  • Though this has become a surprisingly busy summer, I hope to spend as much spare time as possible in the next few weeks working on my writing - if you follow me on Pinterest, you may have put together the clues that I'm working on something inspired by the medieval period. I've been listening to a lot of soundtracks, instrumentals, and dreamy tracks like this one from Lawrence Greenwood, also known as Whitley.

wedding wednesday: spring table number ideas.

Since my last post on creative table number ideas was posted two years ago, I wanted to take a look at current trends that savvy brides and party planners are drawing on to help their guests find a spot to sit! While I know not everyone is a fan of numbered tables at events, as a person with anxiety, I personally love knowing exactly where to go and being able to avoid that middle school lunchroom feeling. Table numbers (or names) can also be a great way to tie in the theme of the event or add a subtle nod to the couples' or hosts' interests.

Garden-inspired elements will always be popular for spring events, and this mock table setting from Pressed Cotton (via Snippet + Ink) cleverly uses a twisted fork (perhaps from a flea market or thrift shop) to hold a simple printed card that complements the fresh white linens and greenery of the centerpieces. If this style is too simple, a printed bee or floral design would be a nice element, but with an embroidered tablecloth and textured elements already on the table I think the simple number is breath of fresh air.

Some simple but creative takes on a garden theme: a metal marker and a painted lantern. These ideas could be easily adapted for a smaller event by using plant markers with a fun quote, or using gold Sharpie to write a favorite song lyric or birthday year on lantern glass.

A vinyl number on a sparkling-clean carafe adds a modern touch to a traditional tablescape from Life in Bloom.

Hand-painted table numbers go from romantic to bohemian depending on how they're paired with other design features.

A vinyl number on a vintage lightbulb lends an industrial touch to a rustic wedding - this is an idea I'd never have had in a million years, but I love it.

Another industrial-inspired touch paired with a classic centerpiece: this stenciled number on wood lends a rustic look.

Finally, I adore this whimsical carved table number paired with mercury glass and pink roses.

What's your take on table numbers - are they
the mark of a pushy host, or a punch of personality?

who to follow on instagram.

Instagram has been my favorite form of social media for several years running and I don't see that changing any time soon. Here are the feeds I'm loving right now...

aburstofbeautiful - Blogger Alicia shares shots of her lovely home which is decorated in cozy modern farmhouse style, including her perfect kitchen, sweet vignettes, and the occasional puppy or kitty photobomb.

mistyonpointe - I studied ballet for eleven years, and have loved seeing ABT's first African-American principal dancer become a celebrity - I've also seen a few of my own students inspired by her story. She is grace, beauty, and strength personified.

octoberjuneblog - blogs about branding, and her Instagram feed features consistently simple, pretty peeks at her everyday life and casual-chic fashion; I love that she includes her geeky side as well - she's an unabashed Harry Potter and X-Files fan.

mscraftberrybush - Blogger Lucy is a talented artist and decorator, and her feed features pretty vignettes from around her home, watercolors and other works in progress, and fun shots of her family's dog, Brody!

kaisafit - Kaisa Keranen has an M.S. in Exercise Science and her feed is always happy and upbeat - even when she has a broken leg. I've gotten some good ideas from her workout videos. Her pictures are a great source of gym style inspiration, too!

palmtreesandtaxis - East coast college student and fashion blogger Claire's Instagram feed has such a fun aesthetic - ocean waves, neon signs, and palm trees even in the dead of winter, alongside fashion and travel photos.

  • Singer-songwriter Inzi has the sweetest voice that is providing the perfect soundtrack to watch snowflakes fall outside my window this morning - I think fans of Sara Bareilles and Ingrid Michaelson will like her music.

inspiration for a blush and pewter winter wedding.

By now, we've had some time to adjust to Pantone's unprecedented decision to name two colors of the year for 2016, and I'm currently obsessed with rose quartz. Just in time for Valentine's Day, I'm envisioning soft blush pink wedding details paired with lace and pewter for a perfectly romantic winter wedding.

Classic letterpress stationery will never go out of style. I love the idea of a bride using a family heirloom cameo or lace from her mother's wedding dress as her "something old."

For "something new," BHLDN's collection of vintage-inspired chandelier
earrings is full of stunning pieces to complete a bride's look.

Lovely floral robes would make the perfect bridesmaids' gift, and if your girls are
up for it, a centerpiece making party can help ease the pre-wedding jitters.

The silvery leaves of dusty miller add a perfect wintery touch to a
blush and ivory garden rose bouquet.

Which of these Pantone-inspired details is your favorite?
