Style: A Cozy New Year's Eve

With the exception of one fun trip to Washington, D.C., my favorite New Year's Eves have been the ones where we've stayed in or spent the nights with a few friends. My perfect New Year's Eve would be cozy, warm, and full of friendship - just like I want the rest of 2016 to be! I'm loving Pantone's new Colors of the Year, Rose Quartz and Serenity, and I love the idea of using them in simple party decor. Snowflakes - Sochi Inspired

Today I'm taking a very subtle approach to Sochi-inspired fashion. Remember those snowflakes from the Opening Ceremony?  You know, the ones that almost-successfully turned into the Olympic Rings?

They were very pretty as snowflakes.  

All things gray, glittery, and clustered with jewels are in right now. The snow on the East Coast may be melting, but the snow on your sweater is appropriate until mid-March.  Let's get to the inspiration, shall we?

Snow and Gold: Sochi Inspired

I think I'm drawn to the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the Olympic Games because I love show business in general - theater, music, and dance.  What bigger show is there than one the whole world can watch together?  The pageantry of the Sochi Opening Games included beautiful white and gold costumes suggesting traditional Russian clothing.  I think that a white and gold ensemble would be a very classy choice for a Closing Ceremonies party - or for work today while supporting Team USA's drive for gold medals in sports like curling, ladies' figure skaring, men's ski cross, ladies' ski halfpipe, women's ice hockey, and team Nordic combined cross-country.

Casual Neutrals for Fall [high school reunion tailgate outfits]

In a few hours, I'll be heading back to my old high school football stadium stomping grounds to kick off my ten year reunion weekend with my classmates.  It's also the 50th anniversary of my high school, so alumni from throughout the school's history as well as retired teachers will be in attendance.  I had been brainstorming cute fall outfit ideas for a while and came up with four layered looks I was loving - and then Virginia decided to be 80 degrees in September.  So while I'll probably be rocking a t-shirt, jeans, and flats tonight, here's what I'd rather be wearing!
