As a kid, my Christmas lists were epic - I was an only child and I didn't have a clear understanding of what was reasonable, so I'd start working on my Christmas list in the early fall and add more items every time I sat down to watch TGIF and Saturday morning cartoons. When the Toys R Us and Sears catalogs came in the mail, all bets were off for my parents. Somehow, they always understood which of the items on the list were really the ones that would light up my little heart, and even though our Christmases weren't extravagant, I never noticed what wasn't under the tree. Mr. Q and I try to keep our holidays reasonable and sensible, and while I put together this wish list I tried to keep those values in mind - while still treating myself a bit :) After all, it's a wish list - and I believe in dreaming big.

Cozy Pajamas - I love a good pair of flannel jammies and my PJ drawer is full of fleece and flannel pants, but I want one of the old-school sets with the matching button-down top, like this one from Victoria's Secret.
"Grown Up" T-Shirts - In other words, shirts I could wear on teacher workdays without worrying that I look twelve or that they're inappropriate (did I ever tell y'all about the time one of my kids got sent home for wearing an AC/DC t-shirt with a cannon on it... that I also own?). The "Love Is" tee from Walk in Love and the typewriter tee from ModCloth represent my personality without looking juvenile.
Fossil Watch - Being a middle school teacher, it is not okay for me to take out my cellphone at work to check the time. It's time for me to have a real watch, and this one is so classic and pretty, I could stack it on my wrist with my bracelets.
Toms - I love my orange and blue UVa Toms for warmer weather - they're perfect for slipping on the run errands and I got tons of compliments on them at camp this summer - but they're a little too thin to be comfortable this time of year. That's where this wool, fleece-lined pair of flats comes in!
YA Books - This is the can't-go-wrong option for me - I always need more books for my classroom library, and YA books are my favorite to read as well. I've heard so many good things about The Fault in our Stars (John Green is awesome!) and I was captivated by Maggie Stiefvater's The Raven Boys so much that I don't think I can wait for the second book in the series, The Dream Thieves, to come out in paperback.
Clarisonic Mia - Everyone who raves about this cleaning brush can't be wrong. I'm sick and tired of having teenager skin! I like that it can be used with any cleanser.

I love those tshirts. I need some of those since we seem to have a lot of casual days at my new job. And all of my other shirts are sports or music-related. Not a bad thing, but I want to show all sides of my personality. :)
ReplyDeleteHooray for casual days! I technically have one every Friday but admin prefers we wear spirit shirts if we wear t-shirts on student days. Occasionally I can get away with a charity 5K t-shirt.
DeleteSeriously, how have you not read The Fault in Our Stars yet?!?! And here I was thinking I was the last one I know to read it.
ReplyDeleteI know! I'm too cheap to buy it in hardcover though!
