1. One item you wish you could splurge on right now:
Does a puppy count as an item? I'm 29, but instead of baby fever I really just want a fuzzy friend. Mr. Q and I really want to wait until we get our own place to get a pet so it can have some room to run around and play outside, but I think a small dog would be perfectly happy in our townhouse :)
2. If you had an entire weekend of no plans what would you do?
Read blogs, read books, go shopping at the farmer's market or the mall, or go to the movies - I'm pretty easygoing on the weekends since I am so busy all week. I really cherish the weekends that I get to spend time with my family, especially when I get to see my aunts, uncles, and cousins.
3. Next place you are visiting outside of your current city?
I don't really have any travels planned for this fall or winter, though I'd love to get up to D.C. to visit Bridesmaid Philly at some point. I'll probably be visiting Richmond in March for my reading association's conference - it's been held there before and they put on a very nice, well-organized event, plus Richmond has lots of neat non-chain restaurants and shops to check out, especially in the area around Virginia Commonwealth University. The most exciting travel on my horizon is our planned trip to London next summer! We're saving our money to pull that one off.
4. Are you a neat freak or a clutterbug?
Both? At school, my co-workers constantly comment on how organized my classroom is, but I explain that I *have* to have a lot of organization systems in place because otherwise it would constantly look like a disaster zone. I have designated spots in my classroom for students to turn in work, for papers I need to turn in to the office, for papers I need to copy, for the next week's handouts, for my professional books, for my lesson plans, etc. Meanwhile, the cleanliness of my house is directly related to how soon I have company coming over and how busy Mr. Q and I are at work - with him starting a new job last week and me going back to school, the townhouse has gone from Pottery Barn catalogue quality to frat house in a very small timespan.
5. Favorite summer purchase?
Probably my J. Crew Factory pineapple tee - I really loved the pineapple print trend this summer, and a shirt covered with gold foil fruit was a little bit outside my comfort zone. It's fun and makes me smile when I see it in my closet.
Although, we did buy a new car this summer, so I should probably say the Subaru Crosstrek... but I still think I like my pineapple shirt more :)
I can relate to being both a clutterbug and a neat freak. I'm more organized at school than at home, but I'm constantly striving for being more organized.
ReplyDeleteI try not to feel too badly about not being able to keep both organized at once - more people see my classroom than my house!
DeleteI've never been to Richmond which I really regret since I went to school in DC. I hope you have a great time!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Last time we stopped by a restaurant called The Black Sheep and it was amazing!
DeleteWe are about to adopt two cats next weekend. What little bread are you thinking of? Some little dogs are hard to potty train, and others bark excessively, just look into the breed carefully (we have one!!). Whatever you pick, I would love to see cute puppy pics, so I am going to follow you on social media.
ReplyDeleteI didn't like Richmond very much 10 years ago (I was 9 months pregnant, and in heels, so...). I lived in Fredericksburg for 5 years. I loved Virginia, but we moved away because of Northern Virginia traffic. Stopping by through the linkup!
Mom's Got Mail
I really love French bulldogs and pug mixes - I think it's their little squishy faces. I like Bichon Frise and Shih Tzu mixes because they are really fluffy. Another breed I fell for recently was a Dorkie, which is a dachshund/Yorkie mix - so little and cute.
DeleteI don't think I would want to live in Richmond and definitely not in Northerns Virginia but they're fun to visit for a change of pace. Southwest Virginia will always be home!
oooooooo a subaru crosstrek..jelly!!!! I miss my hubby's forrester. sigh. So happy to had found your cute little blog. I too am obsessed with weddings and before the military life led us to Virginia I was a wedding coordinator/planner in the Reno/Lake Tahoe Area ( I even did one on my own anniversary which was fun). I'm currently one of those Northern Virginia-ers. There are lots of Virginia Bloggers up here, if you come to Richmond you should see if there is a corresponding get together. can't wait to poke around here more :)
ReplyDeleteWe are loving the Crosstrek! Mr. Q did a ton of research before he traded in the Nissan XTera he had been driving since college.
DeleteThere do seem to be a ton of Virginia bloggers, though not so much in my corner of the state (SWVA). I'd love to attend a blogger get-together at some point, maybe Roanoke or Charlottesville will have one someday.
