Two of my favorite ways to celebrate fall are to go apple picking and to create as many apple-based recipes as possible. If I could have had a fall wedding, I think that an apple orchard would be a perfect, rustic location for a wedding inspired by apples and shabby-vintage style.
Vintage lace doily invitations from Postscripts on Etsy
The perfect shabby-vintage invite: kraft paper and a vintage lace doily to set the tone for a wedding with a homespun feel.
Isn't this apple bouquet amazing? Lady apples are the perfect size for a wedding bouquet; add some filler and you've got a work of art that will get tons of compliments!

A simple pair of shoes become something from a fairy tale when the setting is an apple orchard.
I love bushel baskets incorporated into wedding decor. Here, a bushel basket lined with burlap makes a great presentation for programs.

Rustic and a little bit quirky, mismatched bridesmaids with bouquets in beautiful autumn colors add just the right touch of pretty.

I love this doily escort idea, against the backdrop of a simple painted board. So clever and lovely!

An apple cider station with Mason jars for sipping is perfect for a September "cocktail" hour while the bride and groom sneak in a few orchard portraits.
Small Thumbrint Tree from Wedding Shower Gifts
I love a thumbprint tree as a guestbook alternative for autumn. I like the idea of setting out several stamp pads in autumn colors for guests to choose from.

Homemade apple butter is such a sweet (both literally and figuratively) favor idea. Making apple butter brings families together!
In keeping with the doily theme from the invitation and the escort board, I wanted to bring in some more vintage shabby cuteness with a table runner of layered and stitched doilies and a lacy cake.
