My love of and admiration for Kate Middleton is pretty well-documented here at Beyond the Aisle, and I have pretty much squealed and clapped every time NBC has shown her during the Olympics. I love that even though she probably could have had an extensive wardrobe, she's been dressing very much like a traveler during the Olympics, repeating and rotating key pieces and using a palette of red, white, cobalt and navy blue, taupe and gray to ensure that everything can be mixed and matched. Today, I'm looking at what Kate actually wore during the London Olympics. Tomorrow, I'll share my ideas for how to pack like Kate for a trip, with more affordable pieces.
When the Olympic Torch arrived at Buckingham palace on Thursday, July 26, Kate was patriotic in a white Team GB polo, cobalt Zara "Satin Tourser" jeans with back zippers (available from Zara in black for $19.99 or in cobalt from Zara's German site for 39.95 Euro), and navy Stuart Weitzman "Corkswoon" wedges (available in black patent from Nordstrom for $179, Zappos for $190.99 in a wider range of sizes, or Stuart Weitzman for $375 in nude patent, white patent, or denim).
Kate wore an ice-blue Christopher Kane coatdress, nude pumps, a grey suede clutch, and bespoke Kiki McDonough earrings to the afternoon reception at Buckingham Palace welcoming international Heads of State and to the Opening Ceremonies on July 27.

Kate watching men's field hockey on August 4 in her navy skinny pants and a Team GB pullover accessorized with her pearl stud earrings and Givenchy sunglasses.
At the Team GB vs. Croatia handball game on August 5 wearing a Diamonds by the Yard Tiffany bracelet (I'm guessing the $875 version rather than the $285 version) with a blue Team GB polo, red Adidas sneakers ($132 from Kitbag), and a black Longchamps Le Pliage bag ($135 for a large bag from Longchamps) | Wearing a Team GB Adidas jacket over her white polo with her pearl stud earrings and Givenchy sunglasses to the Sailing events on August 6.
Kate watched the women's field hockey semifinal with retired figure skater and Team GB Ambassador Robin Cousins on August 9 in her Smythe blazer and white polo. She also attended Synchronized Swimming that day with Prince Albert of Monaco.
On August 10 Kate wore almost all white to watch women's field hockey: a sleeveless Team GB polo, , denim pleat-front skirt, white braided belt, and her navy wedges with her pearl stud earrings, Tiffany bracelet and Givenchy sunglasses.
For the August 12 Closing Ceremony Kate wore a Whistles dress in a blue, black, and white petal print that was formerly sold at ASOS for $255.45. Kate accessorized with a black belt and clutch and her Kiki McDonough diamond and topaz earrings.
So, do you think Kate has five white Team GB polos, or was she doing laundry in the sink throughout the Summer Olympics? I would not have been able to be nearly as thorough in this post without the amazing website What Kate Wore - its authors do a lot of research to get the exact product names and details for Kate's wardrobe! Their rundown of the royals' official schedule released by St. James's Palace was especially helpful when I was double-checking the dates on and events to which Kate wore each outfit. Please pay them a visit and leave them some love if you enjoyed this post.
Wow, will have to visit that website too. I love how she 'recycyles' things, which has been mentioned int he media here in the UK, think it shows she's normal. Though I bet she had more than one polo shirt
ReplyDeleteThis is the first time I've really noticed that she wears things multiple times and I love it - it boosts that "I am a real girl" image that I love about her.
DeleteUS weekly and all those other magazine love pointing out when Kate re-wears things. Last year when she was a Canada they posted several different outfits but each had the same shoes. Although if I had to guess she probably has multiple polo shirts. And I loved seeing her in the stands at all the different events.
ReplyDeleteI loved her outfits for the Canada trip - especially the maple leaf hat!
