Off-topic: You know you're from Virginia when...

- You measure distance in minutes.

- Speed limits are just suggestions... except in speed traps. And you know the one cop in Boone's Mill.

-You took field trips to the nearest cave, Williamsburg, and Washington D.C. as a kid

- They just tore down the old farm house across the street and put 12 new McMansions in its place.

- If you stay on the same road long enough, it will eventually have three new names.

- When you order "tea" you mean sweet, iced tea.

- You've ever had to switch from heat to air conditioning in the same day.

- You see a car running in a store parking lot no matter what time of year.

- All festivals across the state are named after a fruit, vegetable, grain, insect or animal.

- You carry jumper cables in your car for your OWN car.

- The local newspapers cover national and international news on one page and have six pages for sports.

- As a child you thought all restaurants had a buffet.

- You have worn Carhartt, blaze orange, and camo.

- You have worn pearls and hair ribbons past the age of twelve.

- It's optional to attend school on the first day of hunting season.

- You know all four seasons: almost summer, summer, deer season, and Christmas.

- "Wally World" has nothing to do with National Lampoon.

I thought my girls would get a kick out of this.

Hello Heather - Really liked this post. I lived in Alexandria for 5 years, so I know where you're coming from.

But back to why I'm writing ... I would love to get your opinion on something. My friends and I just launched a free online wedding planner for brides-to-be, and I wanted to see if you would take a look at it and let me know what you think. We built it specifically for DIY and budget-minded brides, but we think any bride would find it useful.

And if you like it and think it's link worthy, we would be honored if you would mention it to your readers, whether it was in a blog entry or even a link in a recommended vendors or resources area. Our site is called www.myweddingworkbook.com, and you can sign up for your own account if you like or view a sample account at http://www.myweddingworkbook.com/test_drive_launch.cfm.

Just let me know if there is anything I can do to return for this favor … I’d be glad to post a link for you on our site if you’d like.

Thanks so much for your time, and don’t hesitate to drop me a line if you have questions.

Take care,
Jeff Kear
